The Clam Shell

I was looking for my favorite recipe for "Spaghetti alle Vongole" yesterday afternoon and came across a print of this painting. This painting brings back fond memories of eating at a little "pizzeria" above the soccer stadium in Naples. The kids and I would always order the Spaghetti Alle Vongole. As we would eat the pasta we would eat the clams straight from the shell. For those of you who haven't tried this Italian dish, you are  missing a true delight. I am very lucky to have access to a great market "Finley Market" here in the Cincinnati area that has fresh seafood available. I can get baby clams if I order them ahead of time. Be sure to have a hearty appetite when preparing this dish. Plenty of warm bread to soak up the juices is a must.
