One of the things that was so obvious as we walked all over Venice was the lack of garden space. When you have to sink pilings 16 feet into the mud, land is at a premium. There were so few gardens, so it was necessary to use any available space for plants and finding a spot outside.. We were there at the end of March , so most windows and roofs were just beginning to show their warmer months colors. It was easy to visualize how they would look in the summer. When I got home and started to look over all the photos I had taken on the trip I kept on going back to the photos of the roofs. It was while I worked on this piece that the old song "Up On The Roof " by The Drifters kept popping into my head. My favorite singer of this song is James Taylor. I hope you enjoy this as much as I always have.
