John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge, new painting by S'anna

work in progress
8 x 10
Oil on Museum Quality Panel

This is just a quick post to share what is on the easel right now. I have thought about painting this local landmark for a couple of years, but never seemed to get around to it. There were always so many other commitments. With eleven days left before I return to school and the classroom, now just seems the right time. I had taken a number of photos and a few quick sketches this past winter while near the bridge. There had been a lot of rain and the river was really muddy, but the sky was so clean. this made for really great contrast in the photos. Yesterday I started working from those photos and quick sketches and notes. I put in the foundation for the muddy water and main supports for the bridge and I"m satisfied with the way it is looking. Would love to know what you think.
Hope you will check back on the progress of this new piece. I plan on working on it this afternoon after I get back in from the garden,(really need to take advantage of the 75 degree temperature before it warms up).

Have a Great Sunday!!
