Being Thankful, a colorful Sunrise by S'anna

This new painting is now hanging in the studio. I was able to complete it yesterday. Now that all the leaves are off the trees, this is what I see each morning when I wake-up. In the cold winter days, I usually get the bright oranges and pinks. Even on those days that turn cloudy, I usually have a few moments of color.

I am always thankful for whatever light and color we have. This time of the year has in the past, been hard on me. I'm one of those people that needs to have the drapes pulled back and as much sunlight as possible pouring in. This will be my first winter that I have not found myself in a classroom with no windows or two small windows opening up to stairwells. Not a lot of light for a person who needs a lot of it. I look forward to being in the studio with its wall of windows and working a new series of light and color filled winter scenes. I will be including at least on piece working with the light from a large full moon as well as a number of sunsets and sunrises.

Being Thankful

I would love to hear from you and your response to the shorter days and less light of winter. What things do you do to hold you over till Spring?
